LO2: Distinction Criteria

The rushes have shown that we have followed the main coventions of a teen drama/soap opera. Some of these convention have been shown through the themes and camera work. These are camera shots such as close ups, we used these shots to capture the emotions of the characters, this is something that is needed to create an atmostphere in a scene. Shot reverse shot is another camera technique we used to show the conversations which is also a good way of creating tention and intimacy. Following Mise-en-scene is also a big part of having the conventions of a Teen drama Soap Opera. Using different lighing is a good way to reflect the mood of the scenes, this is something we used in our show as it was good to connote the tention in some scenes. Natural lighting is another convention that is used in a lot of soap operas, to create this illusion we used soft boxes. We have also added background music in the scene of the nail bar, this music is the type of music that fits with the target audience, this was to create realism as this is one of the conventions you would find in a real nail bar. The costumes worn by the characaters fit really well with the genre as these are the outfits worn by young adults reality and were purchased in the same shop as the target would purchase their own clothes. The clothes worn reflected the personalities of some of the character like Frankie as that character is sweet and happy all the time I think the floral clothes reflect this real well.
